Surprise proposals are good, but it’s even better when you think your man is 500km away for a boys weekend in Whistler, and you’re in Kelowna for a girls weekend.
A couple months ago, Austin, my old buddy from high school replied to my Instagram story and we started talking about how covid was affecting our life and my business. In the middle of it all with so much uncertainty for the wedding and events industry. I told him it was pretty scary thinking about all the weddings being postponed and wether or not my small business or my friends’ businesses would be able to stay in business.
To that he suggested that in order to help keep me in business that I photograph him and Autumn’s wedding next year, with a winky face at the end. HOLD UP, HECK YES!!
So we made plans, proposal plans. After the ring had finally come in, lo and behold Autumn and her friend made plans to come to Kelowna for a weekend literally to check out a bridal shop I love which I shared on my Instagram story. So… basically I had a lot to do with the success of this proposal 😉 I kid.
Austin even texted Autumn a picture of him “at the lake” in Whistler. An old picture, still very believable. Later that afternoon, Autumn’s friend suggested a hike on Mt Baldy, that giant hill behind Scandia. She hesitantly agreed (they were wearing dresses and white shoes after all).
As she walked up the hill, there stood a tall blonde man in a black and floral button up. Here we go…

The beard touch is a sign of good frienship.
We had to practice of course, thanks Ryan for the help!
Here she comes!
Autumn almost tripped over the blanket.
A big fat yes (:
Shoutout to Autumn’s mom, Madi, and Ryan for helping to orchestrate this day.
Austin and Autumn are JOY in human form.
Shaking off a bit of nerves and adrenaline:
One of my favourite moments, taking a minute to pray as a newly engaged couple 💛
